The Experimental Study of Dilantin Gingival Hyperplasia In Dogs

Abstract
A technic of oral hygiene that has over the past few years become very popular is water pressure irrigation. The following study was designed to test the effect of water pressure irrigation (Water-pick) on staina ) material on the teeth. The maxillary six anterior teeth in 12 human subjects were used in this study. Teeth were stained by an application of 1% solution of gentian violet for 10 seconds, then a color photograph (slide transparency) was taken. The results were summarized as follows: 1. Result showed that only 7.7% of the stainable material was removed by water pressure irrigation and 70. 1% of the stainable material was removed by tooth brushing. 2. The mean value of stainable material remaining on the labial surfaces of the anterior teeth after both water pressure irrigation and tooth brushing was 24.1% with the high and low values being 40.5% and 8. 3%.
